Frequently Asked Questions

Custom Orders

Do you do custom orders?

Yes we do — fully bespoke commissions, designed entirely to your vision, are a core part of the house. We design from your brief and produce a render for approval before production begins. Once approved, production follows the render exactly, so please review every detail carefully — approval confirms the order.

Do you make engagement rings?

Yes. Bespoke engagement rings are a core part of the house — designed to your vision, around a diamond selected or custom grown to your exact specification. Within the collection, the Emerald Three-Stone Ring is the hero of our bridal offering. Email contact@laoribeli.com to begin the conversation.

Where is La Oribeli based?

La Oribeli is an Australian house. Viewings are by private appointment — in person or over Zoom — and we travel often for trunk shows and private appointments; we will advertise when we are in your city. All enquiries are via contact@laoribeli.com.

How does payment work?

Full payment is taken at the time of ordering, and production begins once payment is received. We do not take deposits or part-payments. All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Orders cannot be cancelled or changed once production has commenced, so please review your details — ring size, metal, engraving — before payment. If production has not yet begun, email us and we will do what we can.

Can I customise a piece from the collection?

Yes — and not just the carat. The metal, the stone shape, the colour, the length: every design in the collection can be made around you. Tell us what you’re picturing at contact@laoribeli.com and we’ll take it from there.

What are your convertible pieces?

A signature of the house. Our tennis necklaces and rivières are Convertible-ready: each detachable pendant is a one-of-one stone — white, fancy blue or fancy yellow — that moves between necklaces, so one piece becomes many. The same thinking runs through the collection, from flip rings that wear two ways to the Orb & Chain charm system.

Can I book an appointment?

Yes, we welcome private appointments — in person or over Zoom. Appointments are valued at $150, redeemable against your order; email contact@laoribeli.com to arrange a time. We also travel for trunk shows and private appointments often, and will advertise when we are in your city.

Do you offer discounts?

No. We do not run sales or honour discount codes.

Do you offer returns?

Because each piece is made to order, all sales are final and we do not offer returns, refunds or exchanges. The exception is a faulty piece, which we will repair or replace in accordance with our Return & Refund Policy and the Australian Consumer Law.

Diamonds

Are your diamonds certified?

Yes. Every diamond is independently certified by IGI, and your certificate is delivered alongside your piece. Beyond certification, each stone is personally assessed for ratio, proportion, symmetry and light performance before it is accepted — our colourless diamonds are held to a D–F colour and VS+ clarity standard. For custom orders, G colour and VS2 clarity are the lowest we will go.

Will a lab-grown diamond pass a diamond tester?

Yes. They are diamonds, so they test as diamonds on a standard handheld tester. Identifying origin requires the specialist screening instruments used by gemmological laboratories and some jewellers — and even then, the result simply confirms a diamond, grown.

Can a diamond be custom grown for me?

Yes. A diamond can be grown and cut to your chosen colour, cut and carat, whether for a bespoke commission or a variation on an existing design.

Will a lab-grown diamond cloud or fade over time?

No. Lab-grown diamonds are as hard and as permanent as mined diamonds. They never cloud, fade or change.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically and optically identical to mined diamonds and are graded to the same standards. The only difference is origin.

Do you work with natural diamonds?

No. We work exclusively in lab-grown diamonds.

Do you offer coloured diamonds?

Yes. The collection includes fancy yellow, blue and pink diamonds, as well as a rare fancy brown, all held to a VS+ clarity standard and vivid/intense colour. Other colours can be custom grown or sourced on request.

Shipping

How long will my order take?

Select pieces are held in stock and ship promptly. Everything else is made to order — please allow 3–6 weeks for production, plus courier delivery. Lead times may extend during peak periods (October–December).

I need my order sooner!

Email us at contact@laoribeli.com with your date before ordering. Between in-stock pieces and the production schedule, we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, worldwide. Shipping is complimentary on all orders via FedEx or DHL Express — fully insured and tracked, with signature on delivery. The recipient is responsible for any customs charges, import duties or taxes levied by the destination country. Full details are set out in our Shipping Policy.

Sizing & Care

How do I find my ring size?

We recommend being professionally sized at a local jeweller before ordering, on the exact finger, ideally at the end of the day. Inexpensive ring sizers are also available on Amazon if you would rather measure at home. As we do not offer resizing, please confirm your size before ordering — and for commissions, before approving the final render. Buying as a surprise? Email us, we can help.

Which metal should I choose?

14k gold is the hardest-wearing and lightest, and our recommendation for tennis pieces. 18k is warmer and richer. Platinum is the whitest, naturally hypoallergenic, and never fades or tarnishes — best suited to rings and smaller pieces. We confirm your choice on enquiry.

How do I clean my jewellery?

The oldest trick in the book: dish soap and water with a soft-bristle toothbrush — or Windex with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Rinse with water afterwards and you’re done. For black rhodium plating, stick to dish soap and water only. We also recommend having your piece professionally cleaned once a year.

Do you offer resizing?

No. As all pieces are crafted overseas and made to order, resizing after delivery is undertaken at your own cost through a jeweller of your choosing. Please note that third-party alterations will void any assessment of manufacturing fault under our warranty.

How should I care for my piece?

Put jewellery on last — after perfume, lotion and cosmetics — and remove it for swimming, sport and cleaning. Store pieces separately so they cannot scratch one another. Care instructions are included with every piece.

Will the finish change over time?

With wear, yes — this is true of all fine jewellery. White gold is rhodium-plated and can be re-plated over time to keep its bright finish; black rhodium details soften gradually, which is part of their antique character; platinum never fades or tarnishes. The diamonds themselves never change.

Warranty

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. Every La Oribeli piece carries a six-month warranty against manufacturing faults, effective from delivery. If our workmanship is at fault, we will repair or replace the piece at no cost to you. The warranty covers manufacturing faults only — not wear and tear, broken chains, chipped or cracked stones, accidental damage, or damage caused by poor care. To make a claim, email contact@laoribeli.com with your order number and photographs. Full terms are set out in our Return & Refund Policy.

Why might my piece look slightly different from the photographs?

Photography is captured under studio lighting and often at magnification, and some images are CAD renders produced from the manufacturing files. Each piece is finished by hand, so minor variation is inherent to handmade jewellery. The dimensions and specifications stated in each listing prevail over any impression given by imagery.
